Sharing our Passion for Recovery | Podcast Episode 111 with Soberoso

I am very excited to announce my podcast with Dora from Soberoso, a podcast where they invite guests and listeners from around the world to join in on “Sharing their Passion for Recovery”. The podcast is perfect for that old timer in recovery, a newcomer, sober curious, or a loved one of someone who struggles with alcoholism, addiction, or mental health issues. The podcast features real people who have overcome incredible odds to turn their lives around and are passionate about tearing down the stigmas around alcoholism and addiction by speaking their truth and getting heard.

My conversation with Dora comes from a sober curious perspective. My life about 12 years ago, was one that was very chaotic, with unhealthy relationships, and social circles where drinking and drugs was the thing to do, it was the main focus of my existence. At this time of my life I was looking for love, and trying to figure out how to fit into the world, and was never guided in how to connect with people other than the party life. I was never taught what it meant to be mindful and what mindfulness living was all about until I attended my first yoga class. It took me years to find the courage to attend, but when I did, it all went up hill from there because I had an immediate connection with the positive influence and ways of thinking that were presented to me. The more and more I practiced yoga, the more I felt what it meant to live a healthy and more mindful life. My progression became natural in living a sober lifestyle, as I no longer turned to drinking and drugs as my primary source to have fun and connect with people. The majority of my life is sober living, as I do believe in supporting my spiritual growth through spiritual ceremony & medicinal medicines.

On the path of my transformative self, I studied to become a holistic health coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, and worked hard to receive my E-RYT200 & RYT-500 hr. yoga teacher certifications that are registered with Yoga Alliance. I have been working for almost a decade in the world of wellness, and have a passion in teaching yoga classes that come from spirit, connecting people to understand their nutrition from an energetic perspective, and specialize in developing holistic wellness retreats for those in recovery from addiction. I truly believe that once someone is not only taught about how to take care of themselves in a healthier way, but when they become a part of a new social circle, one that supports them to live a healthier life through holistic wellness (yoga, meditation, breath work, nutrition, energy work, body work, trauma informed, coaching & counseling, etc). that those changes in behavior assist in relapse prevention from unhealthy addictive ways of being, and substance abuse.
