The Karma Effect of Moffitt Wellness Retreat | Addiction Treatment & Recovery near Puerto Vallarta
A Path Discovered
I would like to talk about Roy Moffitt, for anyone who knows him, you know his big personality, and how motivated he can get about anything he is passionate about. Well, I met Roy in 2013 when he reached out to book a yoga class, asking if I could hold one for a group of people in an addiction recovery program being held at Moffitt Wellness Retreat, a center for addiction treatment. During the session, I learned that the retreat center was a transformation of his own personal home in Mismaloya, making it a passion project from his own personal journey of recovery (proof of the power of total transformation).
In his personal journey, alcohol & drugs took over his life a year before retirement, and he was miserable; his solution became the problem; what he thought was saving him was actually killing him and everything and everyone in his life. He was left with little choice but to surrender. He decided to attend an AA convention in sunny Puerto Vallarta where he had maintained a second home for more than a decade. Priceless is the word he would use to describe his experience. In Puerto Vallarta, he found a therapist with a similar background, started a customized physical fitness program, had an AA recovery coach, embraced nature & the culture, and began eating perfectly balanced meals (for the most part, but still loved his waffles). Recovery Programs like this exist everywhere to some degree, but by him stepping away from not only his hometown, but from his country, his recovery program in Puerto Vallarta yielded a much different experience. In Roy’s words, “After being totally disgusted with my behavior, barreling toward an early death, and emotionally bankrupt, I made the single best decision of my life.” He was given a second chance, restoring his health, marriage, relationships and his happiness.
The interesting thing about his story and our connection, was that I could relate about the destruction of one’s life through addiction due to being a family member of an addict. We connected on many levels, and so I started working for him as the operations director and wellness consultant, bringing in new ideas & a partnership.
Reflecting and thinking about my life, as I so often do, I grounded in the understanding that Moffitt Wellness Retreat became a karma effect; a mysterious, and persistent force that shaped my life. This energetic effect rooted me deeper on my wellness path, guiding me as a result from my previous experiences, while creating a path deeper into my Dharma; one’s own duty in life. What a beautiful energetic ripple effect Roy Moffitt’s energy created, not fully understanding the effects of his positive karmic actions that continue to vibrate on.

Eco-Adventures Addiction Treatment | A Different Approach | Holistic Wellness | Private & Small Groups
Along with the retreats, I have been holding one-on-one eco-adventure addiction treatment near Puerto Vallarta, called Yelapa, a small fishing village outside of Banderas Bay. This treatment program is for those in active addict, and who would like to become clean through holistic wellness (yoga, meditation & breath work, wilderness/eco-adventures, nervous system regulation, trauma therapy & counseling, yoga philosophy, energy work), and the 12-Step Method.
We also hold the program for those who are not interested in the 12-Steps, due to their own unique connection in a different approach. The non 12-step method takes you into a deeper dive into yoga philosophy, mindfulness, and minimalism.
