rights of passage | 4-Weekend series retreat

A self discovery yoga retreat in Yelapa, MX

Do you hear the call?

The call of the unknown asking you to listen. We are constantly navigating the space between polarities, which can become very stressful and cause a lifestyle of chaos and illness. Here at the Rights of Passage Retreat, we guide you into connecting to that unknown, so you can intuitively navigate the world around you. A world constantly telling YOU what to do and how to be. What to believe in and what is right or wrong. There is no duality here, only the understanding that YOU are the one you have been waiting for.

Rites of Passage | A Yoga Retreat of Transformation

This 4-weekend series yoga retreat held in a small fishing village called Yelapa, is a retreat to come together and connect with local people who live in Puerto Vallarta who also want to make a change in their lives. Rites of Passage Retreat will give you the tools to move more meaningful and intentionally through the crucial passage from a lifestyle that isn’t supporting you, to one that is integrated with your heart’s purpose. It will give you an opportunity to cultivate your own deeper self knowledge through yoga philosophy and, group therapy, and to strengthen your purpose and passion by exploring yourself through nature and the arts. You will also be guided on how to better serve your community from the heart, and how to see humanity in yourself and others.

All rights of passage are characterized by three distinct phases:

  1. Separation (leaving the familiar)

  2. Transition (a time of testing, learning, and growth)

  3. Return (incorporation and reintegration)

The Rites of Passage Yoga Retreat is a guide and support system that will constitute a major milestone in your life. At the end of the 4-week series we will celebrate your social movement from one group and way of life, into another.

SEPARATION

Each weekend, you will separate from your familiar weekend routine, giving yourself the space to incorporate a new way of being. You will leave behind the need to go out to dinner, or dress up to impress.  You will leave the need to be intoxicated to have fun, or gossip about people with a negative mind set.  You will leave the need to take care of someone or some thing, or feel compelled to always be doing something for someone else.  The first step in this process is to simply have the ability to embrace the need for space and separation, giving you the ability to see what is not serving you in a positive way.

Transition

Yoga practice & Philosophy

You will experience different styles of yoga from hatha, kundalini, and vinyasa, to restorative, deep stretch and yin yoga.  Each morning class will incorporate, asana, pranayama, mantras, mudras, and bandhas.  While the evening class will focus on deep relaxation through restorative, yoga nidra, deep stretch, or yin yoga, while incorporating sound healing.

Yoga philosophy will ring from the yoga sutras of Patanjali, diving deep into the 7-limbs of yoga.  There will also be discussion of kundalini tantra and its practice, as well as exploring certain kriyas.

Isha JUDD SysteM | Group THerapy

The Isha Judd System is a method with 7  very simple to use but extremely powerful tools for personal growth and the expansion of consciousness. It does not have a belief system or theories, it is easy for anyone to incorporate into a busy lifestyle and its daily use naturally and effectively improves our physical, emotional and mental health. One of the components is a practice very similar to meditation, that ANYONE can implement, with eyes closed, to nurture the observer and go deep within, and with eyes open, to remain centered, in the present moment, during the whole day.

If you have heard and are curious about Mindfulness you will find the Isha System simply amazing.

building community networks

You will learn how to better serve your community by learning how to first identify what it is that your community needs, and how to become a part of it, in a way where you will learn how to develop a plan of action based around your personal interests for the community you would like to engage. A community can be a small group with similar interests, or a bigger initiative by working with the schools, churches, or libraries.

WilDerness Therapy

From the moment you take the water taxi, to the moment you arrive in Yelapa, you will go into a place of introspection, opened, and ready for an adventure.  Immediately you will begin to connect energetically, inviting growth, healing, and mental health.  This mini ceremony of self that will take place, very naturally, is the essence of the space you are about to step into.

During each weekend, you will have time to embrace dark nature, like star gazing, green exercise by hiking to the waterfalls and along the river, grounding yourself with the stones, and walking on a soft sandy path with shoes or barefoot, and ocean therapy, by connecting to mother ocean by swimming, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding, where the expansiveness of the ocean, will deeply speak to the expansiveness that is within yourself, knowing that mother ocean is vital for human survival. One of the top benefits that wilderness therapy addresses, is that it helps reduce anxiety and/or depression, and increases your own relationship and connection to self, giving you clarity and inspiration.

INSPIRATION THROUGH THE ARTS

Here in Yelapa, resides many talented artists, people who paint, sing, dance, play music, and write.  The arts are one of the truest expressions of self, showing in a material or expressive form.  Each weekend, you will dynamically connect with one of these modalities, to tap into energies that may be dormant or blocked through expressive art.  The movement of these energies will open up your inner spirit, creating a clear and playful path forward.

RETURN

Every week you will return back to your daily life from Monday - Friday, arriving here every Friday for each weekend during the month of May. When returning back each week, you will work on incorporating what was guided during each weekend, as you gradually and with guidance, reintegrate back to your personal life.
