Kula is a Sanskrit word that can be translated as “community,” “clan” or “tribe.” The concept of Kula comes from another sanskrit word Kula Siddhi or the idea that all the diversity of creation in the universe is in relationship and is connected. It’s a way in which we can all grow together.
PRIVATE SESSIONS
Yoga was originally taught from teacher to individual student and was especially designed to meet the student’s specific physical, emotional, mental and spiritual disposition and needs. This is why there are so many rich and diverse schools of yoga today. While group classes are a wonderful and accessible introduction to yoga, working privately with a knowledgeable teacher is the best way to deepen and integrate your practice as it becomes more and more a part of who you are. This can be achieved in one-on-one, couples, or as small private classes in San Miguel de Allende, MX.
Yoga is an expansive path of self-study, self-compassion and self-empowerment. In our lives, as in the yoga postures, we are constantly given the opportunity to stretch, strengthen, shift, embrace, and awaken! Private sessions include instruction in yoga postures, guided meditation, pranayama and / or discussions on how to apply the wisdom and clarity of yoga philosophy in your every day life. My approach is holistic and comprehensive. If you would like more information or to schedule a session, please call or email julia@vikarawellness.com today to sign up for your private yoga program!
CLASS TYPES
Hatha | A slower paced yoga class with more instructional alignment, taking you to a deep understanding of the energetic body. If you are a beginner, this is a great place to start.
Align & Flow | A medium paced class that integrates Hatha with Vinyasa for a more dynamic based class. All-Levels. Inspired by Anusara.
Gentle Stretch | A slow paced yoga class that is great for beginners. This class guides you into deep gentle stretches that could be held for as long as 1-2 minutes.
Vinyasa | A faster paced flow class concentrating on steady transition of asanas with the breath. This class is recommended for students who already have the understanding of alignment.
Yoga Blends | A special class for our body-mind-spirit using exercises from different practices such as Vinyasa Yoga, Pilates, Kundalini, Pranayama, Tensegrity, Yin Yoga, and partner work. A class to explore and open up to the different possibilities and tools, going with the flow of the day and participants
Yin Yoga | When you take a Yin Yoga class, you’ll do mostly seated, supine, or prone poses, and you’ll hold them, with your muscles relaxed, for long periods of time—up to 5 minutes or more. The theory behind this approach (proposed by Zink) is that staying muscularly passive for long periods of time gently stretches connective tissue, which gets stiff and immobile with age. The asanas focus mainly on the lower back and hips because the abundance of dense connective tissue around those joints requires extra care and attention.
Prenatal/Postnatal Yoga | There are asanas that are supportive and others that are not while you are pregnant. Let us help you navigate your body and emotions during this sensitive time. Let us also be here to guide you back to yourself after the baby arrives. Yoga will balance your energy, focus, and stress.
Children’s Yoga | Children are an extension of our future. Introducing yoga at a young age is that very seed that will create mindful, compassionate, and unique human beings. It will guide them into a deeper understanding of self and the environment that’s around them.
Yoga with Baby | This class is designed so that mothers can practice yoga with their babies, regaining strength and vitality as well as encouraging movement and play with the babies. We also do mantra chanting bringing sound and voice to the practice. An excellent way to spend quality time with our little ones! Class duration 40min.
